Dreaming Of A Week in Bali with Kids

Dreaming of a Week in Bali with Kids - how I would spend an ideal week in Bali with my kids

This post is sponsored by Traveloka.

As the weather turns colder in Vienna, my mind starts to wander to warm sunny beaches and tropical vacations. We are still a few months away from our annual trip to Maui. So in the meantime, I am dreaming of how I would spend a week in Bali with kids.

Bali with Kids

We will start our week in Ubud, in a villa at the The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah. Right in the middle of rice fields as far as the eye can see, The Chedi Club is the secluded villa I have been dreaming of. The kids will love playing in our own private pool, and we will all enjoy the complimentary yoga classes, traditional Balinese dance shows, and walking through the rice fields. We will likely spend the first day or two just hanging around the villa, enjoying all that The Chedi Club has to offer.

Once the kids get their fill of the private pool, we will head into Ubud to walk through the local market. This market is filled with traditional crafts, and we can have fun bargaining for some inexpensive souvenirs. From there, we will drive up the road a few minutes to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary. We will come armed with plenty of bananas so we can feed and play with the cute monkeys.

After feeding the monkeys, it will be time to feed ourselves. We will try a Balinese cooking class, where we can learn to make some Balinese specialties, then enjoy them together. My kids are always more open to trying new food when they have helped prepare it, and the cooking class will be a fun activity for us to all do together.

The next day we will visit the Tegalalang Rice Terrace, arriving nice and early so we can have the place to ourselves. The girls can get some energy out hiking up and down the terraces, and we will end up at one of the local cafes overlooking the rice terrace for brunch. Then it will be back to the villa to relax around the pool for the rest of the day.

From Ubud, we will drive down to Seminyak to spend the rest of the week at the beach. We will stay at the fabulous Alila Seminyak, a modern luxury resort right on the tranquil Petitenget beach. The Alila Seminyak is not only gorgeous, but super family friendly as well. With a kids club, special kids’ menu in the restaurant, three infinity pools, daily yoga classes and even children’s spa treatments, my girls will never want to leave. Learn more about the Alila Seminyak on traveloka.com.

At some point, we will head to Legian Beach for some surfing lessons! The waves on Legian Beach are nice for kids learning to surf, as they are small and steady, and they break over soft sand instead of coral. The Rip Curl School of Surf offers special Little Ripper lessons for children under 13.

The rest of our time in Bali will be spent enjoying this gorgeous view!
