Paradise for Families at Plitviče Lakes | Ethno Houses Plitvica Selo

There is no shortage of guest houses and accommodations for those visiting Plitviče Lakes National Park. Most are just simple rooms, with little extra. After all, most people come for the park and nothing more. But if you are traveling with kids, or you are looking for something special, Ethno Houses Plitvica Selo is the place for you.

Ethno Houses Plitvica Selo is an idyllic, family-run resort located just 400 meters from entrance 3 and the boat dock. It was designed to look like an old, traditional village, with everything made of wood and natural materials to blend in seamlessly with the beautiful surroundings.

They have rooms of all different sizes, and some even have jacuzzi tubs. We stayed in a family room with vaulted ceilings and an amazing view.

In the center of the resort is an adventure playground, perfect for kids to burn off a little extra energy after a long drive. The ample seating around the playground is perfect for parents to relax while the kids play. (And the buttons located on each table will call a server to your table so you can order drinks or snacks!)

Ethno Houses Plitvica Selo is also home to a number of animals, including rabbits, goats, chickens, a pig, a pony, and a St. Bernard pup. My girls had a blast playing with the animals, and were even able to feed a few of them.

I can’t think of a better place for families. In addition to the adventure playground and animals, there is also a pool, soccer fields, archery, badminton, miniature golf, mountain bikes and even an indoor play room for babies, toddlers and little kids.

Of course you are going to want to spend a day (or at least a few hours) inside the park, but the hiking trails right around the resort have some amazing views as well.

We planned to visit the park first thing in the morning to try to beat the crowds, but I also wanted to see the lakes during the golden hour. So I went out with my camera one night to catch the beautiful light over the lakes. And within about 10 minutes, I found exactly what I was looking for.

This view will literally take your breath away!
