Vintage Letters

I love vintage letters.  OK, let’s be honest… I am obsessed with vintage letters, numbers and signs.  If I could, I would have them all over my house.  My obsession started from countless trips to one of my favorite shops, Timeless Treasures, in San Francisco.  Every time I go into that store, I think of a million things that I want to make.  When we were designing the nursery, I knew that these would be part of the design.  I didn’t want to put her name on the wall, because we weren’t telling anyone her name until she was born.  I liked the idea of collecting a bunch of different A’s, but then thought that putting the whole alphabet on her wall would be bright and fun, and add texture to her wall, and maybe help her learn her letters, too.   I love that we can change it out whenever we want.  Over a year later, the alphabet wall is still changing.  A few weeks ago when I was in San Francisco I stopped in to Timeless Treasures, and picked up a new X and W and swapped them for the ones that were previously up there.

  • Melissa K - I love my alphabet wall, but I am truly swooning over these vintage letters. I love the variety of sizes, depths, colors and textures. You did a beautiful job collecting and arranging them!ReplyCancel

  • Deidre - Really awesome idea xxxxReplyCancel

  • metta - hi! i’ve a bunch of wooden letters that i’d like to stick on the wall too. as the letters will be hanging over my son’s crib, how do i ensure that they don’t fall on him?

    • kaley - Above the crib is a bit tricky. I used nails and velcro strips, since they were above her changing table. I guess being from earthquake territory I am just a bit paranoid, so I didn’t put anything above the crib. Hope that helps!ReplyCancel
